This Weeks Featured Artist is King Cass

King Cass is an artist making huge waves coming straight out of Quake city.

Born and raised in the South, Christchurch NZ he is on a path to be one of the Real OG’s in NZ Hip Hop.

He is a true Conscious storyteller of Hip Hop and puts his whole being into it
inking his verses with pain and the strength to overcome and rise against the struggle.

His themes are heavily messaged on Suicide prevention and Promote the collective working in the youth and a powerful Anti Bullying message. Definitely, on a path of change and positivity, I truly urge people to suss out his music and you will learn something as he is such a relatable Artist.

King Cass is also a Key Note speaker for the Upcoming Christchurch Anti Bullying Conference 2020 at Canterbury University on the 26th to 29th August this year.

Enough from me here is the Interview.

Why the name King Cass?

Cass is short for Casatore which was a word I created from cacciatore which is hunter in Italian so that’s King Cass.

Also, my grandfather was in WW2 in the Italian platoon 2cn and was captured by the Germans and escaped so I hold his legacy in my artist name.

Where did you grow up?

Christchurch, Sydenham NZ

Describe your Sound/Style?

Conscious Mind soul rap and a Sound for the People a true Voice of the Voiceless.

How long have you been Performing?

Performing 3 years now,
I was in Drama in High School plays so performing runs in my genes.

You are a big supporter of Suicide Awareness and Anti Bullying among many other causes, How has your life experience made you so passionate about them?

I found my mother twice and saved her life from 2 suicide attempts at age 10 and later in life in tried to take my own life in a drug-induced psychosis and have lost many of friend’s family to suicide.

Lived experience as well, as I was bullied and ostracized through school always picked last and that also carrying over to my adulthood life and also in the music industry Getting bullied dissed and so on.

What are the best bars you have written or heard?

At the Moment would have to be Logic or Merkules.

Advice for the upcoming artist?

Stay humble focused and consistent passion is key you want to be doing this for the right reason take it seriously and invest in your craft.

What are some current projects your working on?

My newest video “Work it out” is out now.
I am also working on my next video for my single “Let it go” on all platforms.

Do you have anything you want to recognize or shout out?

Message to the Youth?

Believe in your self don’t let your Self-Doubt get the better of you and never listen to the negative opinions no one starts great greatness is earnt dream big we got this.
