T D B Interview
This Weeks Featured Artist is hailing out of The Blue Mountains is TDB.
TDB is a well rounded versatile Rapper and has a unique style making him a true disciple of Hip Hop.
Whether it be a Boom Bap beat all the way through to a Jazz/Funk fusion beat he has the skills and creativity to lay down solid bars of greatness.
I see TDB going far and he has all the makings of a true leader of the scene and another humbling fact is He is in his 5th Year of Service with the Shipley Rural Fire Brigade.
Most recently He Played a Fire Fundraiser Gig at the Enmore Theatre which was a star-studded line-up with Artists like Hermitude, Horrorshow, Thundamentals, B Wise and many more.
We asked him his thoughts on the Gig he had this to say:
Walking into the green room and having the likes of Horrorshow and Hermitude to name a few standing there keen to have a chat and talk music and life. It was so so so inspiring. I can’t thank Urthboy and the Elefant tracks team for having me. It was like a movie.
Everyone on that bill is all such amazing people. Getting on stage after my set for a dance on Hermitudes set with Onefour and then after that when they played The Buzz, it was just, has me lost for words.

Enough From me here is the Interview!!!
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Bondi, I moved to the Blue Mountains when I was 13, which brought me to a new creative environment, which is when I started to get involved with the music scene.
How Long have you been Performing?
I’ve been performing for about a year and a half now, I’ve been blessed enough to find myself in a position to share the stage with some of the biggest names in the industry at some of the biggest venues in Sydney, it’s been a movie!
Describe your Sound/Style?
My sound, I feel is unique, I like to be a sound to the Sydney hip hop scene that nobody has really heard before, I like to blend old school boom bap, with jazzy neo-soul vibes, I also fuck with grime and less heavy trap beats. It’s a bit of an all-round versatile sound, I like to keep myself open to whatever music I wanna make, and keep myself as a very versatile artist in that respect.
What is the first album you ever owned?
Since I can remember I have had mix tapes my mum and dad used to take me on the computer but the first album I owned that changed the way I listen to music, and what inspired me most was the hilltop hoods album ‘ The Hard Road’ they changed the game for me. That was my first experience with Australian hip hop, my first vinyl was the Easy Life EP ‘Frank’ which they signed for me, literally my most treasured materialistic item ever ha ha!
What are the best bars you have written or heard?
Best bars I’ve written are on the next project in my opinion. Best bars I’ve heard, or as I would put it most memorable would be Loyle Carner’s first verse in ‘Damselfly’ or every single word in Mog.y’s ‘Lilac Panther’ I could really rattle off about 4 essay sized lists of music I love.
What would be your dream collaboration with any rapper or producer?
Dream collab, that’s a tough one. I would say my dream collab would be Easy Life, BENEE or Loyle Carner, again there are soooo many artists I would love to collaborate with. I love music DAYM.
Do you have anyone that you consider your mentor? How has their help or advice shaped you?
I actually have a few, whether it be through their music, then teaching me everything I know, or Facebook statuses that keep me in check, some of those being; Jake Coleman and Kyle Collier aka Merekat, The Mighty Ash, Tenth Dan. Just to name a few in the music scene… also my mum. She’s the Donny
What are some current projects your working on?
I’m working on a lot of music at the moment, the last few months I haven’t had time as I’ve been fighting fires with the RFS, but I’ve now found time to build my studio and start making tunes again the last few weeks and I’ve been on a graveyard shift. This year started off amazingly with me playing a sold-out show at Enmore Theatre so I can only go up from here. This is my year!
What is your top 5 Artists Or producers or Albums?
This is my current top 5 artists, due to change as I listen to ALOT of music.
In no particular order… Easy Life, Loyle Carner, Mac Miller, Kaiit, Tyler The Creator, YBN cordae & Rizzle Kicks.
Sorry that was 7 but you get me hahaha
Message to the Youth?
My message to the youth would be to keep going, who cares if you haven’t got the best studio to do it in, who cares if you don’t have the best beats and the hardest bars. Do you, make the music and the sounds that you want to make. Who cares about what the others say.
