Morus Interview

We got a chance to speak to Morus, Hailing from Sydney this guy is an Artist with some of the most socially aware and politically charged Lyrics full of his play on social commentary.

Armed with knowledge and a huge armoury of lyrics this Artist will awaken the mind while spitting heavy-hitting bars which will make you think.

These are the makings of true Hip hop Visionary. His quick sharp wordplay and commanding tone really make the difference.

He has supported the likes of Chris Webby and shared the stage with many Local Mcs.

I had a listen to some of his tracks and his Tracks are certified bangers.

Paranoid is amazing and featuring the one and only Kung Fu Vampire this track. Then you have Triggered which gives off the spirit of speaking your mind and let’s be real we need more music like this.

The S.I.N EP was a solid listen and very impressive definitely going to be on my future playlists.

The Dreamtime EP was even better to do yourselves a favour and listen to this underground masterpiece.

Check out his Spotify and add the tracks to your playlists!!!

We put him through the Motive 8 to see what he is about!!!

Why the name Morus?

I believe we all have a purpose in this reality and mine is to wake up the masses to the fact that we are all gods and can change the world to our will. Being as my last name is Morris, I thought it fitting to change the spelling to match that of the Egyptian God Horus.

Where did you grow up?

Originally I was born in the inner west of Sydney and grew up in Croydon. When I was about 11 or 12 I moved to Avalon on the Northern Beaches.

What Inspired your Music?

I was born to make music.

My whole family is musical in some form.

In fact, my mum performed on stage while she was pregnant with me haha I’ve gone from Acoustic stuff to metal to hip hop in my life and always had a big love for Rage Against The Machine. I’d say doing covers of their songs are probably what made me realise I could rap and then one day I randomly stumbled across a music video for a song called Issues and Scar tissues by EbGb.

I was blown away at how that song spoke to me so deeply at that moment in time and I realised that with Hip Hop I could utilise all my musical skills in one genre so I went for it.

How Long have you been Rapping?

I have been rapping and on the constant grind for 7 or 8 years now.

What are some current projects your working on?

I’ve pulled back from releasing EP’s for a little while to focus on gaining a deeper knowledge and understanding of production/mixing and mastering so as to become self-sufficient in our studio. Currently, I have been working on a handful of singles along with music videos.

The first single of the bunch is called “Pockets Full of Pain” and I plan to release the music video in October 2019.

The others are top secret haha unless you follow me on Instagram.

Advice for the Upcoming Artist?

Start NOW! Invest in yourself but live within your means.

Expect at least 10 years of eating shit before you get that Caesar Salad and I’d like to say never give up but from my perspective, if music is truly your calling, you don’t have a choice in the matter anyway and if you do feel like that? Hang on tight haha it’s a wild ride!

Who would be your Ultimate Feature/Colab?

I do have a goal to snag up that Tech N9ne feature before he decides to retire and if not, be that guy that pulls him outta retirement to drop a verse ha ha

An even more strange collab would be with Alexi Laiho from the Finnish Heavy Metal band, Children of Bodom. He’s a massive inspiration of mine and an incredible guitarist/songwriter. I’d love to sit down and create a hip hop/metal track with him! That would insane!

Message to the Youth?

Wake up!

Question everything. The revolution is coming.
