Enough from me here is the Interview.

Why the Name Big Red Cap?

When I was about 12/13 I really got into significant other by Limp Bizkit so I started wearing a redcap all the time. People used to call me big red or red cap, eventually when I started making music I morphed it into one as ‘Bigredcap’.

Describe your Sound/Style?

I’m not sure really, I make a bunch of different music. I do boom-bap, Grime, EDM, poppy stuff. I just make whatever I want to be honest.

I try not to take myself too seriously.. for every serious song about something that means something to me.. I will also write some stupid song that’s all for the fun and vibes.

what Inspired your Music?

I used to make a lot of movies as a kid, and listen to a lot of Wu-tang, Dmx and shit. Me n my mate recorded some shit ass rap songs about our maths teacher and when I played it to people they were like ‘is that You? You sound pretty good’.. so I was like.. alright let’s make some songs.

Over time, making songs and music videos to go with them just became the only thing I wanted to do.

Advice for the upcoming artist?

I dunno man.. I’m still an up and coming artist haha. I would say just concentrate on being yourself. Keep putting the work in. Don’t let people shitting on you get you down… but still, take on valid criticism when you hear it.

Make sure you know your worth, but again.. don’t be deluded and think your entitled to everything. Just work hard, stay humble. Count your blessings. And don’t take yourself too seriously.

How Long have you been Rapping/Performing?

Too long.. as I said before since I was in school. I had a crew in the UK and we kinda did some stuff. But I only really truly started tryna make it legit when I was in Amsterdam about 9 years ago now.

When I got to Aus I basically had to start over.. which was cool because I still had a lot to learn. I feel like I’m in a good place now.

Do you have anyone that you consider your mentor? How has their help or advice shaped you?

Lots of people you come across will have advice or display behaviours that you pick up along the way. No TRUE mentors though…

What is the first album you ever owned?

The reservoir dogs soundtrack haha… I went and bought that shit cause I loved the movie so much. A lot of my early CD’s were soundtracks tbh.

First rap album I owned was 36 chambers. I played that shit to death. Then my friend gave me a copy of three dollar bill yall on a cassette.. then the doors just opened for pretty much everything.

In your opinion who is the most influential and successful artist in your genre today and why?

Honestly, it’s hard to say. For me personally, it’s Wiley.

His work rate, his versatility and his want to always bring other people through were groundbreaking to me when I was like 16 and still to this day.

He is legit one of the greatest artists of all time. He gets some credit for it but he deserves more.

What are some current projects your working on?

Me and Losty Just dropped ‘Analog Heroes’ and it’s going pretty well. We managed to top the iTunes hip-hop charts with it and we got some really dope shows coming up. Opening for Drapht in Sydney, Newcastle and Canberra will be amazing.

I’ve got some collaborations with EDM producers coming up, Jordan Magro, UberJaked & Coldeed. I’ve also just recorded a feature for Mister Oophy that I’m heading over to Newcastle to film a video for this weekend.

Other than that… In my immediate future, I think me and Losty are just gonna lay down another EP and keep the ball rolling.

What would be your dream collaboration with any rapper or producer?

Wiley and Fred Durst. Both of them are huge inspirations for me and I would love to work with them.

Who is your top 5 Artists Or producers or Albums?

Wiley, Limp Bizkit, DMX, Kano, Wu-Tang

I love nearly the whole catalogue for a few of those artists.. but the best albums are:

Wiley – Playtimes over Limp Bizkit – Significant Other DMX – The Great Depression Kano – Home Sweet Home Wu-Tang – 36 Chambers

Message to the Youth?

Don’t stab each other. Try not to let social media be too intrusive. Give everyone a chance.. have empathy and compassion for your fellow humans.
